The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was announced in 2007 at the F1 festival in the United Arab Emirates and was held at the Hermann Tilke designed Yas Marina Circuit. In 2006, an Abu Dhabi based company Aldar Properties took the baton to convert the island into a multi-purpose entertainment, leisure and shopping centre. Yas Marina Circuit is the only motorsports venue in the world that offers covered and shaded grandstands throughout the facility, coupled with pit lanes that run partially beneath the track. Located near Abu Dhabi, Yas Islands bagged the world’s leading tourism project by the World Travel Awards in 2009. Yas Islands has a multitude of attractions namely, Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and Sea World. The capital of UAE, Abu Dhabi is surrounded by the Persian Gulf on the western and central coast. The city today is a major cultural, economic, commercial and political hub of UAE. With a yearly influx of 4.4 million as of 2016, Abu Dhabi has a vast variety of cityscapes and activities to offer.
